Paracetamol 500mg tablets: This is how the proven painkiller works

In addition to acetylsalicylic acid and ibuprofen, paracetamol is the remedy for mild to moderate pain. Typical areas of application are, for example, headaches, menstrual pains, toothaches and fever. The reliable effectiveness is based on an essential property of paracetamol: it inhibits the formation of the body s own messenger substances prostaglandins, which are involved in the development of pain and fever. The painkiller paracetamol is therefore ideally suited for the symptomatic treatment of pain.

Application and dosage of paracetamol 500 mg

Due to its good tolerability, paracetamol is not only suitable for use in adults, but also for children from the age of 4 or from a body weight of 17 kg. The painkillers should always be taken with plenty of water and, in the case of acute symptoms, about every 6 to 8 hours. The following dosage recommendation applies:

• Children from 4 to 8 years: ½ tablet 4 times a day
• Children from 8 to 11 years: ½ tablet 4 times a day
• Children from 11 to 12 years: 1 tablet 4 times a day
• Adolescents from 12 years of age and adults: 1-2 tablets 4 times a day

• The maximum duration of treatment with Paracetamol 500mg should not exceed 3 to 4 days at a time. If the symptoms persist, we strongly recommend that you visit your doctor.
